  6. The so called pride of hyderabad - Hussain Sagar lake, is decaying ..... It surprises me, Why are people so indifferent and just ignoring it , while everyday lakh of people travel around it. The area around this erstwhile beautiful lake stinks. It appears that almost all the sewage of the surrounding area empties into it, and there is no filtration or treatment plant around the lake.
Recently I was in Singapore and they have a beautiful manmade lake in the city. Singapore has no source of fresh water and has to import fresh water from Malaysia (They have an agreement upto 2050). Singapore treats this water while the lake is kept clean and beautiful.Anywhere in the world you go, you will find people are forward thinking. In Singapore they are developing more fresh water lakes, which will take care of the countries water supply from 2030 onwards.
I guess lot of money is being siphoned off in the name of cleaning this lake. Is there any well intentioned society which is ready to mobilise people to participate in cleaning the lake and also haul up the people responsible for its upkeep ; and if required file RTI / PIL on the checking the revenue being misused. The GHMDA is also answerable to the people as to how it intend to ensure tha afluents are not discharged into the lake. Why can't we have crytal clear lakes in our country
